The First Rhodesian Ridgeback Club to Gain Championship Status in the UK

The Club Championship Show was held on 19th July 2008 at Newark & Notts. Showground.
Judge Ms Jackie Parker (Azuli)
My grateful thanks to the Committee and exhibitors at Midland and Northern for giving me such an enjoyable and memorable day. The entry was super in number and quality leaving me spoilt for choice with worthy exhibits not making the cards. Ridges and crowns were excellent as were temperaments. A big thank you also has to go to my stewards for the day Nicola and Sharon who were knowledgeable and kept the ring running like clockwork.

Bowden & Quin’s Hooz The Double. Really liked this young dog. 6 months, red wheaten.
Pleasing head with well set ears, good bone and feet. Nice body length
and angulations. When settled he showed good length and evenness of
movement. Will watch with interest.
2nd
Walton Haddon’s. Mwenga’s Special Brew. Another nice puppy although quite different in type
from 1. Good shoulder and
hind angulations.

Junior Dog
(6)
1st
Raymond’s Sofala Saracen. Very
impressive young dog, well built, strong and muscular. Excellent front

1st
2nd
Boyes’s Benicloujam Jacob.
Another with a good dark eye. Promising front, still very much a baby
against older dogs.
Post
Graduate Dog (8, 1a)
1st
Letts’s Nyassa Daka. Caught my
eye when they first went round. Good expression and ear placement. Super
length and angulations. Excelled on the move his long easy action
putting him at the front of this very good class.
2nd
Tearne’s Faahac Fumbaa Aan N’Gai at Mudzimba. Very handsome, upstanding dog. Lovely head, expression
and ear placement. Super shoulder. Just lost out on movement to 1 today.
3rd
Mills’s Janak Jaron by Nzuri
Limit Dog.
(11, 2a)
1st
Boyd, Rossiter & Fox’s Sonstraal Gabe’s prospect at Sescheke JW
ShCM. At the front of a very good
class of which I had to split hairs on many of the places and worthy
dogs not making the cards. Loved this boy for his bone, feet and
proportions. Good front and strong well angulated rear end. Moved with
drive and so sound, which gave him the
RCC
2nd
Ratcliff’s Flametrees Kyper of Godolphin. Very close up to 1, liked him for all the same
reasons. Preferred head to 1, but just out moved today.
3rd
Kirby & Mansfield’s Shngwidsi Tshepa Riva
Open Dog
(12)
1st
Swales’s Ch Mwani Bakari JW Liked this
dogs head very much with good expression and ear carriage through to a
strong but elegant neck of good length.
My first and second places were, today, the best movers in this
class. Both having straight action coming and going with reach, drive
and balance in profile. Was pleased to award the
CC for movement and type.
2nd
Woodrow’s Mirengo’s Mukwela. A very
balanced outline with no exaggeration. Coming into his own on the move.
Little to choose on the move between the two.
3rd
Bowlas’s CH Sofala Lincoln
Veteran Dog
(1)
Although no award was made for
this class the entry was a quality dog which I was able to go over
standing but was unfortunately lame when moved which made it impossible
to assess fairly. There was no question of the award being withheld for
insufficient quality.
